Title:Using Chicagoland, its people, and places to teach Science (P165)
Description:The Chicago area has an wealth of resources available for the science teachers. Morton Arboretum, the Chicago River, Lincoln-Park Zoo, the Chicago History Museum, Graceland Cemetery,The Shedd Aquarium, and the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District, are just a few of the assets contained in the Chicago area that can be used to teach not only science, but social science, art, and engineering concepts. We will discuss how we have used Chicago resources and their respective professionals to help students to see the interconnectedness of the topics they have learned about in science, social science, and art, and understand how these relate to a global challenges.
