Abstract Details (PID = P155)
Title:The Meeting of Two Worlds - Integrating Computer Science Into NGGS (P155)
Description:As a science teacher, should your instructional practices include the integration of computer science? In 2017, there were almost 550,000 computer science jobs nationwide with only roughly 50,000 college graduates entering the work force to fill these positions. This presentation will demonstrate how computer science can be integrated into our educational landscape. We will take a look at intersections of NGSS and the Computer Science Teachers Association (CSTA) standards. Through design thinking and the application of Science and Engineering Practices (SEP), we will showcase one way students can be apart of world solutions while bridging the gap between community, industry and education.
