Title: | Bridging the Gaps Between HS ESS, ELL Support, and 3D Assessments (P132) |
Description: | ESS is the most neglected area of science education and science literacy. During this talk, participants will identify the gaps present when it comes to 3D assessments and ESS and identify ways to help all students be successful, especially our emerging multilingual students. One of the tools that will be discussed is Kognity for High School Science. We will also spend time on taking a 3D assessment to help us understand what students are asked to do on these assessments and how we can start incorporating more 3D assessment opportunities in classrooms. ESS Performance Expectations can help ground our students in why we are learning about specific scientific concepts, and create learners who want to help make our planet a better place. By removing barriers for our students in the classroom, we can provide confidence to our students when they present their knowledge on future assessments. [VENDOR SESSION] |
